Happier days - three of the aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Fund (BBMF), courtesy of the MoD. They are, respectively, a Spitfire Vb (foreground), a Lancaster B1 (middleground), and a Hurricane. Always a favourite with the crowds at airshows, it is staggering to realise just how popular these aircraft are. More than six million people watched them, in 750 displays and flypasts this year.
